[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 9th that, as the number of COVID-19 self-quarantine violators is on the rise, they have discussed response measures between police stations and local governments and decided to strengthen active administrative support and prompt quarantine-related police activities.

To this end, on the 7th, the Jeonnam police consulted with 22 local governments in the province regarding information sharing on habitual self-quarantine violators, preventive patrols, and unannounced joint inspections. Subsequently, on the 8th, they conducted unannounced inspections of the residences of self-quarantined individuals in cooperation with seven local governments.

Additionally, while reinforcing 112 emergency call responses for temporary COVID-19 living facilities managed by each local government, if unauthorized departures of self-quarantined individuals are confirmed, investigations will be promptly initiated and legal actions taken even without complaints from local governments.

Chief Kim Namhyun stated, “We will continue to strengthen administrative support through active information sharing and joint unannounced inspections with local governments to alleviate community anxiety caused by self-quarantine violations and focus police activities on ensuring a safe Jeonnam.”

Meanwhile, patrols to maintain order at official mask sales locations and joint efforts with local governments to promote compliance with quarantine rules and social distancing at crowded facilities such as nightclubs and entertainment bars are also ongoing.
