Yeonggwang-gun's Promotion of the '2021 New Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeon Seong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 9th that it will promote the ‘2021 Renewable Energy Supply Convergence Support’ public contest project hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Energy Agency.

The ‘Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project’ is a system that supports 80% of the total project cost with national and local funds to reduce self-burden when two or more types of renewable energy sources are installed simultaneously at the same location or when one or more types of renewable energy sources are installed in a specific area where residential, public, and commercial buildings are mixed.

The county established a renewable energy convergence project plan with a scale of 2,000 kW at about 500 locations by investing 4 billion KRW centered on Yeonggwang-eup downtown, and publicly recruited and selected participating companies to join this project in the form of a consortium with renewable energy facility construction, monitoring, and design supervision companies.

Through this project, it is expected that the prompt response to the government’s Renewable Energy 3020 Implementation Plan and the promotion of the county’s renewable energy cluster creation will further enhance the atmosphere of resident-led eco-friendly energy supply.

The renewable energy supply convergence support contest will be finally selected in December after public evaluation and on-site evaluation by the Korea Energy Agency in the second half of this year.

Governor Kim Junsung said, “It is expected to greatly contribute to reducing energy costs for residents and creating energy self-reliant villages by activating renewable energy supply in the private sector,” and added, “We ask for active participation and cooperation from residents so that the project can proceed smoothly.”
