Woori Lighting Targets Domestic Sports Lighting Market with Signify Korea

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Comprehensive lighting company Woori Lighting announced on the 9th that it has signed a strategic partnership with Signify Korea (formerly Philips Lighting Korea) to target the domestic sports lighting market.

Through this partnership, Woori Lighting will receive Philips SportsStar LED sports lighting, a light-emitting diode (LED) sports lighting product, from Signify Korea and sell it domestically.

The Philips SportsStar LED, which supports a total of seven beam angles, can replace existing 1KW to 2KW metal halide floodlights, and is the only sports lighting product to offer a narrow beam angle.

It has also obtained an IP66 rating for waterproof and dustproof performance and passed a 1000-hour salt spray test. In addition to ensuring safety against external shocks, it has been installed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, Chelsea Stamford Bridge, and PSV Eindhoven Stadium. The company explained that this product is recognized for its technological excellence.

A Woori Lighting official stated, "The Philips SportsStar LED can be installed not only in sports facilities such as golf courses and soccer fields that require long-distance floodlighting but also in industrial lighting such as airports and ports." He added, "We plan to prioritize targeting the domestic golf market by leveraging the advantage of providing a narrow beam angle."

He also emphasized, "Currently, many places in the sports lighting market suffer from performance degradation and after-sales service issues due to the use of small-scale companies and low-cost products. Through this partnership, which combines excellent technology and distribution networks, we will lead the domestic sports lighting market with Philips SportsStar LED products."
