[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] The ‘Platanus Starlight and Moonlight Path’ in Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) has been selected as one of the Top 100 Night Views by the Korea Tourism Organization.
According to the county on the 9th, the Top 100 Night Views selection began in mid-February by the Korea Tourism Organization to revive the stagnant tourism industry. The final 100 sites were chosen based on recommendations from local governments nationwide and big data analysis of nighttime destinations from SK Telecom T-map, comprehensively evaluating attractiveness, accessibility, security, and safety.
The 300-meter-long Starlight and Moonlight Path, located around the Yeongsangang Cultural Park in front of Juknokwon, features lighting effects that create a starry sky under the beautiful Platanus trees, along with logo projectors (devices that project specific logos or phrases onto the ground) installed throughout the area, conveying a story.
At the crescent moon photo zone next to the fountain plaza, it is common to see people lining up to take pictures.
A county official said, “We consider it very meaningful that the Platanus Starlight and Moonlight Path has been named among the Korea Tourism Organization’s Top 100 Night Views,” adding, “We expect that more tourists will visit the Platanus Path as a result of this selection.”
Meanwhile, the Platanus Starlight and Moonlight Path was created as part of the ‘Juknokwon Area Night View Lighting Content Project,’ one of the Top 10 Themed Travel Courses in Korea’s Southern Region Taste Tour, to promote nighttime tourism. It can be enjoyed from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
