[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…Trevor Immelman (South Africa), captain of the 2021 Presidents Cup International Team, praised Im Sung-jae (22, CJ Logistics).

In an interview with the PGA Tour on the 9th (Korean time), he said, "I have high expectations for Im Sung-jae in next year's tournament," and evaluated him as "someone who has strong confidence in his skills while being very humble." Immelman, who said, "I enjoy watching his play," added, "He shows strong confidence when aggressive play is needed while respecting his opponents," and expressed excitement about "watching Im Sung-jae's growth over the next 18 months."

Im Sung-jae is a young player who was named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year last year. He made his first appearance at the Presidents Cup held in Melbourne, Australia, last December, performing well with a record of 3 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss, including defeating US Open champion Gary Woodland (USA) in a singles match. He is currently ranked 1st in the FedEx Cup (PO) points ranking, 2nd in the money list ($3,862,000), and 23rd in the world rankings.

Immelman emphasized, "I expect Im Sung-jae to achieve more accomplishments, show solid play, and develop in various areas," and expressed confidence that "he will grow into a world-class golfer." The Presidents Cup, an intercontinental golf competition between the United States and the International Team, will be held over four days from September 30, 2021, at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. Historically, the United States holds a dominant record of 11 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss.
