[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] The police have requested arrest warrants for two male middle school students accused of gang raping a female middle school student in Incheon.
According to the legal community on the 9th, the Yeonsu Police Station in Incheon recently applied for arrest warrants for two middle school students, including A, on charges of rape causing injury under the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
The pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) is scheduled to be held this afternoon at the Incheon District Court.
The two middle school students, including A, are accused of raping B, a female student attending the same school, at a gym in an apartment in Incheon on December 23 of last year.
The police investigated the suspects and the victim in the presence of their respective parents and collected DNA samples from A and others for testing.
It is known that A and the other accused denied the related charges during the police investigation.
The school held a School Violence Countermeasure Committee meeting on January 3 and imposed a three-day suspension and forced transfer on the two students, including A. Accordingly, A and the other student were transferred to two other middle schools in the Incheon area.
Meanwhile, a petition titled "'Today I will KILL you' - Reporting minors who drugged and gang-raped my daughter," posted by B's mother on the Blue House National Petition Board, has currently gained over 320,000 signatures.
The petitioner appealed, saying, "The perpetrators are sex offenders who committed the serious crime of special rape causing injury," and "They must be severely punished with at least 10 years or life imprisonment."
She continued, "Minors who committed serious crimes are receiving juvenile protection measures simply because they are young," and "The juvenile protection system, which protects vicious criminals instead of victims, must be thoroughly reorganized."
