[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 9th that it will prepare measures to expand the activity areas of local cultural artists who have been contracted due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Measures to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnant due to the promotion of the Central Market revitalization project and the relaxation of facility regulations such as allowing outdoor business for food service establishments, will also be promoted.
Emergency support projects include ▲ Promotion of a public contest project to support cultural and artistic activities to overcome COVID-19 ▲ Approval of the Jinju East Public Library by the Gyeongsangnam-do Local Finance Investment Review ▲ Deployment of professional interpretation staff at the Lee Seongja Art Museum ▲ Significant reduction of the Jinju Nongae Festival and holding of the 'ritual ceremony' ▲ Establishment and operation of an online reservation management system for public sports facilities ▲ Full-scale promotion of the Central Commercial District revitalization project ▲ Progress of the Seongbuk District Urban Regeneration New Deal project ▲ Promotion of relaxation of facility regulations such as allowing outdoor business for food service establishments in Jinju City ▲ Replacement and expansion of nightscape lighting at Jinju Fortress, activation of permanent performances, tree management, and efforts to make Jinju City a place where history and culture coexist.
A city official said, "We will do our best to secure national and provincial funds by 2021 so that the Jinju Fortress project can proceed smoothly," adding, "We will make Jinju City a tourist destination where visitors stay, not just a city they pass through."
