Police Investigate Officer Who Delivered Internal Report on Yoon Seok-yeol's Wife to Newstapa

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The police have launched an investigation into the police officer who leaked the investigation report related to the 'Deutsche Motors stock manipulation suspicion,' involving Kim Gun-hee, wife of Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, following a report by 'Newstapa' that she was under police internal investigation.

According to the National Police Agency on the 9th, an internal inspection was conducted to identify the circumstances of the investigation report leak after Newstapa's report in February this year, and it was recently converted into a formal investigation. A police official stated, "There are limitations to accurately verifying the facts through internal inspection alone, so it was converted into an investigation." This case has been assigned to the Intelligent Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

Previously, Newstapa cited a police internal investigation report from 2013 related to the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation suspicion and reported that Kim was under police internal investigation. In response, the National Police Agency denied the report, stating, "An internal investigation into Deutsche Motors was conducted, but Kim was not the subject of the internal investigation."

The report was prepared by the Special Investigation Division (currently the Major Crimes Investigation Division) of the National Police Agency but was confirmed to have been delivered to Newstapa by a police officer belonging to a different department.
