Sang-ik Lee, Candidate for Hampyeong County Governor, "Will Achieve Regional Harmony and a Proud Hampyeong"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Sang-ik, the Democratic Party candidate for the by-election of Hampyeong County Governor in Jeollanam-do, continued his campaign at Haebo Market on the occasion of the ‘April 8 Manse Movement Memorial Day.’

Candidate Lee stated, “The April 8 Manse Movement is a source of pride for the people of Hampyeong and an important starting point for establishing our identity,” adding, “Today, as we once again reflect on the will of our ancestors, we will achieve regional harmony and a dignified Hampyeong that is not shameful to future generations.”

He continued, “Our Hampyeong is suffering from a triple hardship of economic recession, population decline, and fragmented local conflicts,” and claimed, “This is because wrong politicians who engage in factional and patronage politics, repeated every election, are blocking Hampyeong’s development.”

He also expressed regret over the current situation, saying, “As the election enters its midterm, rather than policies, smear campaigns targeting rival candidates are rampant,” and stated, “Lee Sang-ik, who has no political debts, is the right person to achieve harmony in the land of Hampyeong, which is full of conflicts.”

Furthermore, he said, “The construction of the Bitgreen Industrial Complex and the Hillbing Hampyeong tourism project to the mountains and sea, which are key pledges, will bring economic vitality,” adding, “The project includes building tourism infrastructure near Yongcheonsa Temple located in Haebo-myeon, developing east and west connections to foster it as a stay-type tourist destination.”

In addition, Candidate Lee proposed regional pledges such as expanding lodging complexes for visitors near the Armed Forces Integrated Hospital, creating specialized country house complexes, maintaining the perimeter trail of Songsanje Reservoir, and commemorating and establishing the April 8 Manse Movement Memorial in order to revitalize Haebo-myeon.

Meanwhile, following the campaign, Candidate Lee, along with supporters, paid respects at the April 8 Manse Movement Memorial Tower, reflecting on the noble spirit of sacrifice of the patriotic martyrs, and conducted a cleanup of the surrounding area with election campaign workers.
