Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has designated and is operating the period until the 4th of next month as the "Remote Class Focus Month" to ensure smooth preparation and operation of online school openings.
During this period, the Gyeonggi Office of Education plans to work jointly with local education support offices to reduce all administrative tasks so that teachers can focus solely on teaching.
For official documents delivered from the Ministry of Education and others, the Gyeonggi Office of Education's Online School Opening Preparation Task Force will conduct a first review and then reorganize them in an easy-to-understand manner for school teachers before forwarding, thereby reducing the burden of official documents.
In addition, schools will be temporarily allowed to use school operating funds designated for specific purposes to purchase remote class equipment such as webcams or cameras. Budgets used for equipment purchases will be supplemented later.
Materials that provide integrated guidance on various support policies related to remote class operation will also be distributed to minimize confusion at school sites.
Furthermore, the Gyeonggi Office of Education will form an online learning teacher support group to guide teachers on how to use online content and platforms they are curious about and assist in developing remote class materials. Additionally, the office plans to complete the distribution of devices to 66,217 students who applied for smart device rentals by the 10th of this month.
For 1,979 high school seniors and middle school third-year students who start online classes on the 9th, and the remaining 5,540 middle and high school students who start on the 16th, distribution was completed between the 6th and 7th. Portable Wi-Fi devices have also been delivered to all approximately 17,000 applicants.
