[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] In Daegu City, 24 patients who were diagnosed as fully recovered from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have been found to be re-positive.
Daegu City announced in a regular briefing on the morning of the 8th that as of that day, there were 24 cases of patients who tested positive again after being confirmed fully recovered from COVID-19. The city stated, "As of the 7th, we plan to conduct mass testing while sending preliminary notification messages and performing telephone monitoring for 5,001 fully recovered patients in the region." It added, "We will check for the presence of 11 symptoms including fever, headache, cough, sore throat, and pneumonia, and conduct specimen tests for symptomatic individuals."
Daegu City said, "Further investigation is needed to determine whether the re-positive cases are due to reinfection or viral reactivation." It also added, "There is a concern of further spread when (recovered) individuals unknowingly come into contact with others or visit medical institutions. We are discussing ways to share information so that medical institutions can recognize that these patients were previously confirmed positive and fully recovered."
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters for COVID-19, as of the 6th, there have been a total of 51 cases nationwide of patients testing positive again after full recovery from COVID-19.
