Police Request Arrest Warrant for 'Butta,' Accomplice of 'Doctor' Jo Joo-bin

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The police have applied for an arrest warrant for an accomplice known as "Butta," who helped Jo Joo-bin (24, in custody), the operator of the Telegram "Doctor's Room."

The Cyber Safety Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 7th that they applied for an arrest warrant for Jo's accomplice A (18) on charges including violation of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse.

According to the police, A, who used the nickname "Butta," is suspected of recruiting and managing participants of the "Doctor's Room" and delivering criminal proceeds to Jo. The prosecution has applied for A's arrest warrant to the court, but the date for the pre-arrest interrogation has not yet been set.

"Butta," "Samagwi," and "Igiyah" have been identified as Jo's accomplices so far.

Active-duty Army Private "Igiyah," who was serving in a unit in Gyeonggi Province, was issued an arrest warrant by the Army Capital Defense Command Ordinary Military Court on the 6th for distributing sexual exploitation materials and promoting the Doctor's Room, and was detained by the military police. The police are currently conducting a search of the unit and have secured "Igiyah"'s mobile phone and other devices for digital forensic analysis.

Additionally, the police have begun identifying the members who paid money to Jo and others to participate in the chat rooms, and among them, about ten people have been initially booked on charges of possessing child pornography, with investigations underway.
