Seoul City Supports Free Subway and Kiosk Advertising for Public Interest Groups and Small Business Owners

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul City announced on the 7th that it will hold a contest for the '2020 1st Seoul Citizens' Hope Advertisement' from the 9th of this month until July 8th.

The Hope Advertisement is a free advertising program that the city has been conducting annually since 2012 for non-profit organizations, small business owners, and others. Until last year, a total of 335 organizations and companies were selected and supported with free advertisement production and posting (broadcasting).

This time, Seoul City plans to support 25 organizations, a 25% increase compared to the previous round, and run advertisements from September this year to February next year.

The print media supported by the city includes a total of 7,754 surfaces such as inside subway train corners, street vendor stands, and shoe repair stands, while the video media includes a total of 106 locations such as the main government building's citizen bulletin board and subway media boards.

When selecting support targets, additional points are given to youth startups among the applicants to support youth entrepreneurship, and they are also given preferential treatment in tie-break situations. Youth startups are defined as companies whose representative is aged between 19 and 39 years old and whose business registration date is between 3 months and 3 years from the announcement start date.

Applicants must be non-profit corporations or organizations, traditional markets, enterprises for the disabled, women-owned businesses, cooperatives, social enterprises, shared enterprises, etc., and must have an address in Seoul.

The contest themes include stories with public interest such as non-profit organizations' activities contributing to society through donation, sharing, and volunteer work, protecting the human rights and interests of socially vulnerable groups, or small business owners' startup stories and corporate social participation that can give hope and courage to citizens and youth.

Selected organizations will receive comprehensive support from Seoul City for advertisement design planning, printing, posting, and video production. In particular, since last year, youth startups with expertise in design planning and video production have participated, raising expectations for higher quality advertisements.
