Sogongyeon: "Hope This Becomes an Opportunity for a Rational Revision of Baemin's Pricing Policy"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise (hereinafter referred to as KFME) evaluated on the 6th that Woowa Brothers' statement issued under the name of CEO Kim Beom-jun partially accepted KFME's concerns regarding the recent commission fee revision controversy. They also expressed hope that this would serve as an opportunity for a rational reform of the delivery app commission fee determination system and pricing policy.

KFME released a commentary on the same day, stating, "With the changed pricing policy, some merchants may experience a temporary reduction in commission fees at this point in time, but in the long term, since fees must be borne according to the fixed rate system, it is highly likely that the majority of Baedal Minjok users will have to endure a price increase overall."

Furthermore, KFME urged, "We call on Baedal Minjok to address these complaints and concerns of small business owners by sincerely consulting with related organizations including the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise and actual Baedal Minjok users, and to undertake a rational reform of the new commission fee determination system and pricing structure."

Additionally, KFME stated, "We believe that this incident highlights the need to expand and promote public delivery apps currently implemented in some local governments. The spread of public delivery apps with reduced commission and advertising fees can trigger reasonable commission fee reduction competition in the delivery app market, so we hope for the interest and support of the government and local governments in this regard."
