[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Ju-hee] Singer Kim Gun-mo, who has been accused of sexually assaulting an entertainment establishment employee, appears to be preparing legal action against the YouTube channel 'Garosero Research Institute' (Gaseyeon).
On the 6th, Woman Sense published an interview with Son Jong-min, CEO of Kim Gun-mo's agency Geoneum Planning, reporting on Kim Gun-mo's current status.
According to the media, CEO Son stated in an interview conducted on the 10th of last month, "We plan to take drastic measures as soon as the police investigation concludes," adding, "We have suffered nearly 10 billion won in damages due to this incident. We will file claims for damages against lawyer Kang Yong-seok and journalist Kim Yong-ho."
The report states that Kim Gun-mo is currently living with his wife Jang Ji-yeon in a newlywed home prepared in Bundang and is said to be refraining from most external activities.
Kim Gun-mo's manager said, "He is avoiding going out except for special occasions. Other than living in the newlywed home, there is nothing else to report."
Kim Gun-mo's sister-in-law, Jo (last name withheld), said, "Both Kim Gun-mo and his mother will refrain from media contact for the time being," adding, "His mother, who has usually been in poor health, has recently worsened."
Since the sexual assault controversy arose, Kim Gun-mo has canceled his nationwide concert tour schedule entirely and has withdrawn from the SBS entertainment program 'My Ugly Duckling,' effectively halting all broadcasting activities.
Meanwhile, the sexual assault allegations against Kim Gun-mo were first raised last December through 'Gaseyeon,' operated by lawyer Kang Yong-seok and former MBC journalist Kim Se-ui. Subsequently, on the 9th of the same month, lawyer Kang Yong-seok filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on behalf of A, who claimed to be the victim, against Kim Gun-mo.
In response, Kim Gun-mo denied the allegations and filed a countersuit against A for defamation and false accusation. In January, Kim Gun-mo appeared at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul and underwent approximately 12 hours of investigation.
Kim Gun-mo's side stated, "We do not admit the allegations themselves. We are innocent," adding, "We have submitted evidence to refute the victim's claims, and the truth will be revealed."
