POSCO Inter Delivers Support Supplies to Vulnerable Children Domestically and Abroad

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] POSCO International announced on the 5th that it delivered support items such as handkerchiefs and sneakers to vulnerable children at home and abroad who may be neglected in social attention due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

This activity is meaningful in that about 950 employees participated in 'work-from-home social contribution' by making handkerchiefs and coloring sneakers at their homes to prevent the spread of COVID-19, practicing social distancing while sharing.

The handkerchiefs sewn by employees will be delivered to about 600 children awaiting adoption in institutions and foster families through Dongbang Social Welfare Center, which collaborates with POSCO International. The colorfully painted sneakers will be delivered to about 350 children in the Philippines and Myanmar.

In addition, the donation included in the kit purchase cost provided by the company will be used for basic childcare supplies and daily necessities for children awaiting adoption, as well as health and hygiene projects for children in developing countries.

Jusibo, President of POSCO International, who participated in the volunteer activity, said, "Although social distance is maintained due to COVID-19, our emotional distance should be closer than ever in difficult times," adding, "It is necessary to have an attitude of sharing with neighbors in need."

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, POSCO International delivered masks and hand sanitizers to about 400 children belonging to 13 local children's centers in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon in February. In March, it contributed 200 million KRW by participating in POSCO Group's medical relief supplies delivery, quarantine, and prevention activities. Furthermore, it continues its bimonthly blood donation activities started in 2016 this year as well, practicing corporate citizenship management philosophy and striving to fulfill social responsibility as a global company.
