[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Germany has exceeded 90,000.
According to the real-time international statistics site Worldometer on the 4th (local time), the current number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Germany is 91,159, with 1,275 deaths. This is the third highest number of confirmed cases in Europe, following Spain (124,736) and Italy (119,827). Including the United States, which has the highest number of confirmed cases worldwide, Germany ranks fourth globally.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated the day before that although the spread of COVID-19 has slowed, the trend is not yet clear, and it is too early to ease restrictions. Germany is currently implementing measures such as suspending the operation of public facilities and stores until the 19th and prohibiting gatherings of more than two people in public places.
