[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Grand Korea Leisure (GKL, President Yoo Tae-yeol), which operates the foreigner-only casino 'Seven Luck,' announced on the 4th that it will extend the closure period of its casino business sites until 6 a.m. on the 20th in accordance with the government's policy to extend the 'strengthened social distancing' for two more weeks.

A GKL official explained, "This decision to extend the closure is a measure to actively cooperate with the government's efforts to 'block community contact' and to protect the safety of customers and employees." GKL decided to close its casino business sites from 6 a.m. on the 24th of last month and has maintained the closure since then.

The government decided on the same day to extend the strengthened social distancing, which was to be implemented until the 5th to prevent the further spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), for two weeks until the 19th.

Earlier, Kangwon Land, which operates casinos open to Korean nationals, also decided to extend the closure of its business sites until 6 a.m. on the 20th.
