[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jong-in, the General Election Committee Chairman of the United Future Party, stated, "Malicious individuals are relentlessly using public broadcasting to shake the Yoon Seok-yeol prosecution." He also described the recent Channel A and Yoon Seok-yeol's close associates' collusion allegations as "a plot due to the approaching election day." He continued his criticism at the election campaign support site.
On the 3rd, Kim issued a statement saying, "As the election day approaches, typical plots are rampant."
He said, "They are trying to cover up their own corruption by mobilizing pro-government professional accusers to collude with public broadcasting and attack other media outlets, but if they thought the public would be deceived, they are mistaken," adding, "The prosecution must firmly punish power-type crimes that deceive ordinary citizens, such as the SillaJen stock manipulation case, without any wavering."
Kim also stated, "The Lime Fund fraud case, the allegations involving Wooridul Hospital, and others must be investigated without any sanctuary to uncover the truth," and "I hope the investigation into the so-called whistleblower will begin immediately. It is pathetic that public broadcasting is relaying the words of criminals who committed major crimes and are now behind bars."
During his visit to support a candidate in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, Kim said, "Where could such behavior of mistreating the Prosecutor General during an ongoing election come from?" and "Personally, I do not understand what crimes they have committed to attack the prosecution so indiscriminately."
He added, "There are even calls to change the Prosecutor General to the Chief Prosecutor, but would changing the Prosecutor General to the Chief Prosecutor alter the essence of the prosecution?" and "Looking at the government's statements, I think these people are truly pathetic."
At a site supporting a candidate in Seogu, he criticized President Moon, saying, "This is an election, yet some people who claim to be involved in politics are launching bizarre election campaigns attacking the prosecution, which is part of the judiciary. The president should properly control this, but he is just ignoring it and watching."
Kim also pointed out, "The value of progressivism prioritizes equality above all. But what has been done for equality? Nothing at all," and "When people without progressive values seize power, they only know how to enjoy power. Because they do not exercise power with restraint, the country is becoming increasingly chaotic."
