Ulsan City Supports Installation of 'Air Pollution Prevention Facilities' in Small and Medium Enterprises

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] Ulsan City announced on the 4th that it will promote the 'Air Pollution Prevention Facility Installation Cost Support Project' targeting small and medium-sized emission businesses classified as types 1 to 5 to reduce VOCs (volatile organic compounds), the main cause of fine dust emissions.

The city plans to prioritize support for businesses with pollution prevention facilities older than 10 years and those causing complaints near residential areas after document review, on-site investigation, and approval by the review committee.

Support for replacing old prevention facilities at business sites will be provided differentially according to the type and capacity of the prevention facility, up to a maximum limit of 270 million KRW.

If selected as a support target, 90% of the installation cost for prevention facilities will be subsidized (50% national funds, 40% city funds), and the remaining 10% will be borne by the emitting business.

Additionally, from April to December, the city will conduct the '2020 Small-scale Business Environmental Technology Support Consulting Project.' The target businesses are type 4 and 5 air and water emission businesses within the region.

Environmental experts will visit the target businesses directly to provide free guidance on the operation technology of environmental facilities and compliance with laws. Support includes distribution of environmental law manuals, resolving questions about emission and prevention facilities, and customized facility improvements suitable for the company's situation.

The Environmental Technology Support Consulting Project started in 2008 and, until 2019, has conducted 2,029 consultations at 1,487 sites. According to survey results, over 90% of businesses expressed willingness to receive consulting again, indicating the project’s effectiveness.
