[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education is promoting a 'Digital Sexual Violence Prevention Measure' to prevent harms like the recent social issue of the Telegram 'Nth Room'.
On the 4th, the Gyeongbuk Office of Education announced that it has established a digital sexual violence victim reporting center on its website and will also operate the '117 School Violence Reporting Center'.
Additionally, to strengthen education on digital sexual violence, it plans to supplement existing manuals related to school violence.
To protect victimized students, it will cooperate with the police, Sunflower Center, and others to provide investigation and legal support, medical and psychological healing, and connections to shelters.
Any faculty members involved in the Nth Room case will be immediately suspended from their positions. The revised regulations on disciplinary measures for educational officials will be strictly applied, requiring 20 hours of mandatory re-education on preventing recurrence for minor disciplinary cases involving sexual crime perpetrators, and 30 hours for major disciplinary cases.
The Office of Education explained that lawyers are stationed at the Happiness School Hub Support Centers established in the four education support offices in the province, enabling immediate legal support for victims when digital sexual violence cases occur.
Joo Won-young, Director of Student Life at the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, said, "Through digital sexual violence prevention education and close cooperation with related organizations, we will ensure that students no longer become victims of digital sexual violence incidents like the second Nth Room case."
