Cesco Foreign Substance Analysis Center Investigation Results
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] Coupang announced on the 3rd that some reports claiming foreign substances resembling insects were found in beef sold on Coupang on the 30th of last month have been confirmed to be untrue.
This is based on the investigation results from the CESCO Foreign Substance Analysis Center. A Coupang official stated, "On the 2nd of this month, the Animal Quarantine and Hygiene Division of the Gyeonggi Province Livestock and Forestry Bureau announced that based on the CESCO Foreign Substance Analysis Center's investigation results, the substance was identified as part of the muscle tissue of the raw meat, not an insect, and the investigation has been concluded." He emphasized, "The CESCO Foreign Substance Analysis Center is a foreign substance analysis institution accredited by KOLAS, an international testing competence accreditation system."
When foreign substances are discovered, Coupang immediately suspends sales of the affected product and recalls all identical products from nationwide logistics centers to conduct internal foreign substance inspections. Additionally, if necessary, they request further detailed inspections from external institutions.
A Coupang official said, "After collecting the product on the 30th of last month, we requested an investigation from the CESCO Foreign Substance Analysis Center together with the manufacturer, Crystal Farms Co., Ltd." The official added, "We will continue to make greater efforts so that customers can always trust and purchase our products."
