[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Changshin University in Gyeongnam has postponed the face-to-face classes, originally scheduled to start on the 6th, by another two weeks to the 20th to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The school announced on the 4th that it had prepared "Academic Operation Guidelines for the Extension of Non-Face-to-Face and Online Classes" based on opinions gathered during an emergency meeting held on the 31st of last month with student representatives in attendance.
The guidelines recommend maintaining activity time, including content using the Learning Management System (LMS), Q&A, and participation in discussions and debates, at a level similar to face-to-face classes according to the characteristics of departments and subjects, while minimizing students' class fatigue.
For practical subjects requiring face-to-face classes, if requested by students, class applications will be reviewed by the "Infectious Disease Emergency Response Committee," and the number of students will be limited to 15 or fewer at a time. Professors and students participating in the classes must check their temperature, wear masks, enter designated classrooms, maintain a 2-meter distance during class, and complete disinfection of the classroom afterward.
Kim Euijin, Vice Dean of Students at Changshin University, said, "We will utilize non-face-to-face classes as much as possible, but in cases where it is unavoidable, we plan to support classes and implement quarantine measures to ensure that classes can be conducted efficiently without large gatherings."
