Consideration for Maintenance Even After COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] GS Home Shopping is transitioning its entire experienced hire recruitment process, including aptitude tests and final interviews, to a non-face-to-face format. The company plans to establish this recruitment system even after the COVID-19 situation eases.
On the 2nd, GS Home Shopping announced that it will build an untact (non-face-to-face) internal culture, including this new recruitment method.
GS Home Shopping recently introduced video interviews in two rounds of experienced employee recruitment. Candidates install video conferencing programs on PCs, laptops, tablets, or smartphones and proceed with interviews based on evaluators' questions. The purpose is to safely recruit outstanding talent from outside. Going forward, except for new college graduates, all recruitment processes will conduct aptitude tests and practical interviews remotely, and final executive interviews will also be considered for video format. To this end, related programs and tools are being reviewed, and interviewers will be provided with video interview manuals.
Additionally, employees will receive up to 30,000 KRW in support when ordering delivery from small local restaurants near their homes. This is intended to ease the burden on small business owners, whose shops have been forced to close or suffered sharp sales declines due to COVID-19. GS Home Shopping employees will also enjoy gatherings safely at home with their families.
Furthermore, GS Home Shopping has changed its employee welfare program ‘Body Challenge,’ which focuses on employee health care, to a home training format. Previously, employees participated in GX, aerobic, and other exercise programs in the company fitness room, and those who showed changes in body fat and muscle mass were awarded prizes. However, for this season running for one month from the 28th, employees must exercise individually at home and certify their activity online. Participants download a weight loss app, perform bodyweight exercises combined with aerobic activities such as walking, running, or cycling, and submit daily photo certifications. Trainers provide continuous coaching, and high scorers on the final day of the challenge will be awarded.
Kim Junwan, Executive Director of GS Home Shopping HR Headquarters, stated, “We will continuously consider and promote innovations to overcome the crisis together not only for employees and job seekers exhausted by the COVID-19 situation but also for the small business owners around us.”
