Candidate Lee Hyung-seok of Gwangju Buk-gu Eul Officially Launches Election Campaign

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Hyung-seok, the Democratic Party candidate for Gwangju Metropolitan City Buk-gu (Eul) in the April 15 general election, officially launched his campaign for victory by visiting the April 19 Revolution Memorial Hall and the National May 18 Democratic Cemetery on the 2nd.

Candidate Lee said, "This 21st general election is a very important election to support the stable second half governance of the Moon Jae-in administration, to recreate the regime in 2022, and to protect reform legislation such as the Corruption Investigation Office Act and the Election Act, passed at the end of last year, from conservative reactionary forces," and appealed, "Please once again gather the power of Gwangju citizens who chose the Democratic Party in the 2017 presidential election and the 2018 local elections."

He added, "The forces judged by the Candlelight Revolution four years ago have changed their signboard to the United Future Party and are engaging in foul play and anti-reform acts that hinder the Moon Jae-in administration," and said, "I have entered this election with the determination to confront the anti-reform forces and the single-minded resolve to create a National Assembly trusted by the people."

Candidate Lee Hyung-seok announced five promises to citizens to create a new future for Gwangju and Buk-gu.

The promises announced by the candidate are ▲ early establishment of an AI cluster complex in the Advanced 3 District ▲ attracting the Gwangju Driver’s License Test Center to Buk-gu ▲ expansion of the Honam Expressway and prompt opening of the Yongbong IC access road ▲ expansion of sports infrastructure in the Yeongsan River waterfront park ▲ promotion of local decentralization and national balanced development.

He said, "Although there are many difficulties due to COVID-19 recently, we have overcome numerous hardships together in the past," and asserted, "Together, we can surely overcome both COVID-19 and the general election."

Finally, he added, "I will approach the April 15 general election with more humility and a low profile and will surely repay with victory."
