40,000 Won Points Per Child for Households Raising Children Under 7 Years Old
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 1st that it will temporarily provide electronic gift certificates (care points) worth 620 million won in total to households raising children who are experiencing economic difficulties due to the spread of COVID-19 on the 13th.
The temporary child-rearing support project provides 400,000 won worth of points per child to households raising children under the age of 7 who received child allowance last month. The county expects about 1,560 people to benefit.
The electronic gift certificates can be used like cash by providing care points on government support cards such as the I-Happy Card and the National Happiness Card.
Also, to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, the procedure including personal consent will be conducted non-face-to-face through text message guidance without visiting the town or township offices for payment.
To revitalize the local economy, the usage area is limited to Jeollanam-do, and some stores such as large marts, department stores, online shopping malls, and entertainment establishments are restricted to support small business owners. The points must be used by the end of the year.
Households without cards can apply for a separate gift card by visiting the ‘Bokjiro’ website or the town or township office starting from the 6th.
A county official said, “We plan to notify the recipients via text message starting from the 3rd,” and added, “We hope this project will help alleviate the economic burden on child-rearing households and revitalize the local economy.”
