[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Ju-hyung] Three sisters who were caring for their mother hospitalized at Catholic University Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital, where a large number of COVID-19 cases have recently been reported, have all tested positive for the virus.
Michuhol-gu, Incheon City, announced on the 1st that Ms. A was confirmed positive for COVID-19 and was transferred to Inha University Hospital. Earlier, Ms. A's sisters, a resident of Yeonsu-gu and public official Ms. C residing in Ongjin-gun, also tested positive the previous day.
The sisters were known to have been caring for their mother who was hospitalized at Catholic University Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital in Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do. The three held a funeral for their mother together at a funeral hall in Dong-gu, Incheon City, from the 24th to the 26th of last month.
Ms. A stayed at home on the 27th of last month and the next day visited a dental clinic and an internal medicine clinic inside Homeplus in Ganseok-dong for treatment. On the 30th and 31st, she visited a pediatric clinic in Juan-dong and then underwent specimen testing at Michuhol-gu Public Health Center.
Ms. B stayed at Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital from the 24th of last month, when their mother was near death. She was classified as a close contact of Ms. C, who had previously tested positive, and after experiencing symptoms such as coughing and muscle pain, she visited Yeonsu-gu Public Health Center and later tested positive.
Meanwhile, as of the 31st, Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital, where a total of 10 cumulative COVID-19 cases have been reported, has been completely closed since 8 a.m. on the 1st.
The total number of cumulative COVID-19 cases reported in Incheon has increased to 72.
