[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jong-in, the General Election Committee Chairman of the Future United Party, stated, "Considering the voting tendencies of Seoul voters, it is impossible for the ruling party to overwhelmingly win in Seoul."
On the morning of the 1st, Kim visited candidate Kwon Young-se in Yongsan-gu, Seoul to offer support and said, "I have no doubt about a landslide victory."
He said, "Looking at the various achievements of the Moon Jae-in administration over the past three years, it is natural that voters will pass judgment on the administration's three years," adding, "Considering the voting tendencies of Seoul voters, it is impossible for the ruling party to overwhelmingly win in Seoul."
He continued, "This has traditionally been the tendency of Seoul voters, and moreover, in the past three years, we have experienced situations we have never faced before," adding, "If we go through this again, the country will inevitably be ruined. They think they can cover up three years of mismanagement with the coronavirus, but I believe Seoul voters are not so naive as to forget the past three years."
Kim emphasized, "What touches the general public most directly is 'how the economic situation has turned out,' and due to the chaotic economic policies over the past three years, small business owners and self-employed people have suffered unimaginable difficulties," adding, "The general public opinion is that we must not go through such an unprecedented national experience again."
He said, "There is nothing to boast about regarding the current government's economic policies," adding, "For example, they promised to create many jobs, but job creation has not increased significantly, growth has almost stagnated, and now with the coronavirus crisis, once it passes, a massive economic corona seems likely to come again."
He added, "If the National Assembly does not strongly control the executive branch during the remaining two years of the president's term, we don't know what kind of actions they might take, so I am confident that the people will keep this in mind and vote accordingly in this election," adding, "Once you make a mistake by giving your vote wrongly, regretting it later is useless?that is the reality of politics, and Seoul voters are sufficiently aware of this aspect."
