[Asia Economy Reporter Jinju Han] Fitbit has unveiled its new fitness tracker, the 'Fitbit Charge 4,' equipped with GPS and heart rate monitoring features.
The Fitbit Charge 4 features built-in GPS and advanced sensors. It also includes the 'Active Zone Minutes' technology, which offers personalized exercise recommendations based on resting heart rate and age to meet individual fitness goals.
The Fitbit Charge 4 is the first Fitbit tracker to include built-in GPS. It supports more than 20 exercise modes. In seven outdoor exercise modes such as cycling, running, and hiking, the built-in GPS allows real-time monitoring of key statistics like pace and distance. Users can access exercise-related functions during outdoor activities like running and walking without carrying a smartphone, and the exercise route map feature lets users review their performance on different segments or terrains.
The battery lasts up to 7 days and supports water resistance up to 50 meters. It is made from lightweight materials for comfortable wear. It also features a 50-meter water resistance rating, a scratch-resistant screen, and a bright, clear touchscreen display that is easy to see even in natural light.
The newly introduced 'Active Zone Minutes' feature on the Fitbit Charge 4 is a personalized activity standard based on resting heart rate, age, and other factors. It calculates the time spent in different heart rate zones during activity to help users understand their health contribution. Active Zone Minutes track heart rate zones during exercises such as high-intensity interval training (HIIT), yoga, and outdoor walks using Fitbit’s PurePulse heart rate monitoring, helping monitor user exertion. It recommends light exercise needed for fat-burning zones and provides real-time alerts when zones change, allowing users to adjust their activity levels accordingly.
There is also a feature to measure and improve sleep quality. The Fitbit Charge 4 includes the Smart Wake feature, previously available only on Fitbit smartwatches, which wakes users at the optimal time based on their sleep state. The Sleep Score function measures sleep quality daily from the wrist. Equipped with an SpO2 sensor, it also tracks Estimated Oxygen Variation (EOV). Users can check for breathing disturbances during sleep by reviewing graphs of blood oxygen saturation levels and fluctuations.
The Fitbit Charge 4 can receive calls, text messages, calendar events, and app notifications, and on Android smartphones, users can reply immediately using voice reply. All notifications can be managed with a Do Not Disturb mode. Additional features include SmartTrack automatic exercise tracking, Cardio Fitness Level, hourly activity, female health tracking, and food, water, and weight logging.
Available colors are Black, Rosewood, Storm Blue, and Storm Black. The Special Edition comes in Granite Reflective and Black Woven colors and includes a classic black band. Fitbit will begin pre-orders on the 8th through its official online shop, Wemakeprice, Interpark, and other platforms. The Fitbit Charge 4 is priced at 219,000 KRW, and the Special Edition is 249,000 KRW.
James Park, CEO of Fitbit, stated, "Fitbit’s mission is to improve the health of people worldwide. Proper exercise, nutrition, and sufficient sleep help reduce stress and strengthen immunity. We especially hope that through Active Zone Minutes, users will enjoy personalized physical activity and gain more motivation."
