[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 1st that it will appoint the Master Planner (MP) for Namyangju Wangsuk District, the largest among the 3rd phase new towns.
According to LH, the Master Planner team consists of 8 members from 8 fields: urban planning, transportation, architecture, environment, industry, civil engineering, real estate, and urban design. The chairperson is Professor Kim Kiho of Seoul City University, specializing in urban planning.
The Master Planner participates throughout the district planning process and manages the consistency of new town planning and development. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's public housing business guidelines, public housing developers must operate a Master Planner system for housing districts with a project scale of 3.3 million square meters or more.
In the urban design field, Kim Hyunmoo, CEO of SiteLab and the consortium of D.A. Group Engineering Comprehensive Architecture Office, who won the grand prize in the "3rd Phase New Town Basic Concept and Three-dimensional Urban Space Planning Competition" announced on the 30th of last month, was appointed as the Master Planner.
For Hanam Gyosan, Incheon Gyeyang, and Namyangju Wangsuk 2 Districts, which were designated last October, the Master Planners are also planned to be selected within this month.
