[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Lotte Confectionery announced on the 1st that it has selected professional gamer Faker as the advertising model for World Cone.
Faker is an undisputed top professional gamer representing the online No.1 game "League of Legends (LoL)." He has showcased his top skills for a long time, earning eight championships in LoL Champions Korea (LCK), three wins at the LoL World Championship (Worlds), two MSI titles, and one Rift Rivals victory, making him a living legend in the esports world. Recently, a Chinese media outlet designated Faker as one of Korea's five national treasures alongside BTS, Bong Joon-ho, Son Heung-min, and Kim Yuna, demonstrating that Faker's popularity and status extend beyond Korea.
Lotte Confectionery plans to solidify World Cone's position as the No.1 ice cream brand and strengthen its connection with younger generations by appointing Faker, who holds strong influence among people in their teens and twenties, as the model for World Cone.
Lotte Confectionery will produce an advertising video featuring Faker and plans to air it within this month. Additionally, Lotte Confectionery will sponsor this year's LoL Champions Korea and is planning various promotions related to the tournament. Starting from the 6th of this month, an online purchase verification event will be held where participants can post their support for the tournament on social networking services (SNS) along with World Cone to receive prizes.
Meanwhile, World Cone sold approximately 75 billion KRW worth last year, maintaining its undisputed No.1 position in the ice cream category for over 20 years. Lotte Confectionery expects the meeting of the national representative ice cream and the national representative pro gamer to create a positive synergy effect.
