The U.S. Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) Tour has expanded the entry list for players due to the inability to hold tournaments caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). On the 1st (Korean time), the Golf Channel reported, "The PGA Tour sent a memo to players stating that when the season resumes, the number of participants in tournaments will be increased to guarantee opportunities as much as possible." Due to the emergency declaration following the spread of COVID-19, 11 tournaments in the 2019/2020 season were canceled or postponed.
As a result, lower-ranked players and caddies are facing difficulties in their livelihoods. The Charles Schwab Challenge, scheduled for May 21 at Colonial Golf Course in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Memorial Tournament, planned for June 4 at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio, will increase the number of participants from 120 to 144. In addition, the number of participants in other tournaments will be expanded as much as possible to provide opportunities to players who have not been able to compete in tournaments so far.
