The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Appoints 55 Members to the 4th Advisory Panel on the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced on the 31st that it has appointed 55 experts from various fields including law, business, education, media, civic groups, and healthcare to the 4th Advisory Panel for the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act.

The 4th advisory panel includes Professor Yoon Hye-seon of Hanyang University Law School, Professor Lee Sang-won of Seoul National University Law School, Director Ahn Wanki of Gyeongnam Technopark, and Chairperson Na Myung-joo of the Parents for True Education Association. Female members make up 40% of the total, with 22 members.

The advisory panel, with a one-year term, will review cases related to the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, establish interpretation standards for issues with sharply conflicting interests or frequent occurrences, and provide ad hoc consultations on contentious matters.

Meanwhile, according to the Commission, since the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act was enacted in September 2016, over 22,000 official interpretation inquiries have been received by the Commission.

Analysis of 9,138 inquiries submitted through the website shows that questions related to the receipt of money or valuables accounted for 78.3% (7,158 cases), followed by external lectures at 16.9% (1,544 cases), and improper solicitation at 4.3% (396 cases).

For questions regarding the provisions or cases of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, inquiries can be made through the 'Improper Solicitation and Graft Act Inquiry' board on the Commission’s website. The 'Explanation and Promotional Materials' board provides access to interpretation casebooks and precedents.
