[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] On the 31st, seven people including nurses and caregivers at Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital of Catholic University tested positive for COVID-19. The hospital temporarily closed the ward where the confirmed cases occurred.


According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters and Uijeongbu City on the same day, one patient who was hospitalized on the 8th floor of the hospital from the 16th to the 25th tested positive for COVID-19 on the 29th. Subsequently, through an investigation of contacts in the ward, seven additional cases were confirmed. The confirmed cases include three inpatients, one nurse, and four caregivers.


The quarantine authorities and the hospital temporarily closed the 8th-floor ward and are conducting tests on all 512 staff members, including doctors and nurses. There is a high possibility of additional confirmed cases. Uijeongbu City is reportedly considering closing the hospital.
