[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Holiday Inn Gwangju Hotel delivered 2,000 bakery breads to medical staff and volunteers at health centers and screening clinics who are working hard to overcome the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Holiday Inn Gwangju Hotel announced on the 31st that it held a bread donation ceremony on the afternoon of the 30th at the office of the Deputy Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall. The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Kim Jong-hyo, Holiday Inn Gwangju Hotel CEO Park Byung-il, the COVID-19 response strategy team leader, and the head chef.

The hotel will deliver 1,000 red bean breads and 1,000 soboro breads through the Gwangju Volunteer Center to screening clinics and city/district volunteer centers.

Park Byung-il, CEO of Holiday Inn Gwangju Hotel, said, “We prepared red bean bread filled with plenty of red beans, which have long been believed to ward off evil spirits and protect the body. To support all those who are devoted to overcoming COVID-19 despite difficult circumstances, hotel staff joined forces to produce more than 50 times the usual amount.”

Deputy Mayor Kim Jong-hyo said, “While the ‘Pause for a Moment’ campaign is underway to stop COVID-19, the continuous outpouring of warmth without pause will be a great strength in overcoming COVID-19. We will do our best so that the citizens of Gwangju can return to a healthy daily life and enjoy the spring days.”
