20% for 4 Months, 4.8 Million KRW Donated to Gwangju Social Welfare Community Chest
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Seong-gil, the standing auditor of Jeonnam National University Hospital, joined the salary donation campaign to share the pain with citizens suffering from COVID-19.
On the 31st, according to the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Han Sang-won), Auditor Lee donated 4.8 million won, which is 20% of his four-month salary, to vulnerable groups in the Gwangju area who are struggling due to COVID-19.
It is reported that Auditor Lee made this decision to participate in the recent decision by the President, high-ranking officials at the minister and vice-minister level, as well as Gwangju Mayor Lee Yong-seop, local government heads of Gwangju and Jeonnam, and superintendents of education in Gwangju and Jeonnam, to return 30% of their salaries.
Auditor Lee said, “It is a difficult time for everyone, but I hope to share the pain with citizens suffering from COVID-19 and contribute even a little to the local economy,” adding, “I hope we can wisely overcome the COVID-19 crisis.”
Han Sang-won, chairman of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, said, “We sincerely thank Auditor Lee Seong-gil for donating funds to overcome COVID-19,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that the donated funds are used well.”
