[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul City announced on the 31st that it will postpone the 2020 1st Seoul City Civil Service Written Examination, which had already been postponed once, again and combine it with the 2nd Local Government Regular Examination, held nationwide on Saturday, June 13.
The original date for the 1st exam was March 21, but due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the exact date was not announced and it had been postponed once to sometime in April.
Seoul City explained that this decision was made considering the continued spread of COVID-19, especially among overseas entrants. Since the Seoul exam allows examinees from all over the country to travel to Seoul without regional restrictions, there was concern that infections among test takers could lead to nationwide spread of COVID-19.
The 1st exam is an additional recruitment test for social welfare and nursing positions to fill vacancies from the previous year and to promote the Care SOS project, with a total of 650 positions including social welfare, general civil engineering, and nursing. Seoul City plans to combine this number with the same grade and category recruitment numbers of the 2nd Local Government Regular Examination for selection.
