Up to 1 Million KRW Support for PC Bang Closures in Jung-gu and Seongdong-gu Following Gangnam-gu

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) is known to have become the first local government nationwide to provide support funds of up to 1 million KRW to business owners of multi-use facilities such as PC rooms and karaoke rooms who voluntarily close by April 5th. Jung-gu and Seongdong-gu have also decided to actively consider this measure.

The Seoul Metropolitan Council of District Mayors (Chairman Kim Young-jong, Mayor of Jongno-gu) held a meeting at Seoul City Hall on the morning of the 30th and decided to actively consider this plan to encourage 'social distancing' in multi-use facilities to bring an early end to the COVID-19 crisis and minimize the damage to self-employed business owners suffering from severe business difficulties due to the government's strong recommendation to suspend operations.

An official who attended the event said, "At today's meeting, it was decided to actively consider providing support funds up to 1 million KRW according to the circumstances of each autonomous district."

This is known to be a measure to help business owners of PC rooms, karaoke rooms, and others who are facing great difficulties due to COVID-19, without requiring a large budget.

Also, due to the postponement of school openings for kindergarten as well as elementary, middle, and high school students, it was decided to promote a plan to support the budget in consultation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education for low-income youth beneficiaries who do not have tablet PCs.

Along with this, regarding the execution of basic income, it was decided to discuss further after reviewing the government's announcement.
