[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] President Moon Jae-in exchanged congratulatory letters on March 30 with Klaus Werner Iohannis, President of Romania, commemorating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The establishment of diplomatic ties between Korea and Romania dates back to March 30, 1990.

President Moon welcomed the steady expansion and development of cooperation in various fields such as politics, economy, society, and culture since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1990, and evaluated the recent strengthening of cooperation in areas including nuclear power, education, and culture. He also expressed hope that the "strategic partnership" between the two countries will deepen and develop further in the future.

In response, President Iohannis emphasized that the development of bilateral relations with Korea is one of the major priorities of Romania's foreign policy, and assessed that dynamic dialogue and beneficial cooperation on the international stage are taking place between the two countries. He then expressed his commitment to realizing the potential for the development of bilateral relations and stressed that the eternal friendship between the two countries will serve as the foundation for this.

Meanwhile, the two countries continue international cooperation to prevent and respond to the spread of COVID-19, and recently, through government mediation, a domestic company signed a contract to export diagnostic kits to Romania.
