Leading the Way in Enhancing Women's Quality of Life to Create Happy Local Communities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Mi-seok] On the 30th, it was announced that the Gurye-gun Council in Jeollanam-do passed the "Ordinance on the Creation of a Women-Friendly City in Gurye-gun," which was proposed by Councilor Lee Seung-ok as the representative on the 26th during the 266th extraordinary session.
Councilor Lee Seung-ok, the representative proposer of this ordinance, stated the background for proposing the ordinance: "Although women's social participation is becoming more active, awareness of the participation of women and socially vulnerable groups in the regional development process is still insufficient," and added, "By stipulating the necessary matters for creating a women-friendly city, we aim to improve the quality of life for women in the region and realize a happy local community."
He continued, "We intend to establish the institutional basis necessary for operating policies that strengthen women's capabilities and ensure women's care and safety."
The "Ordinance on the Creation of a Women-Friendly City in Gurye-gun" includes necessary provisions to ensure that both genders equally participate in regional policy decisions and development processes in accordance with the Framework Act on Gender Equality and other related laws, and to promote women's growth and safety, thereby creating a happy Gurye-gun.
This ordinance will lead the way for Gurye-gun to become a women-friendly city where all residents can be happy by guaranteeing equal human rights without discrimination, prejudice, disparagement, or violence based on gender, and by ensuring equal participation and treatment in all areas, thereby realizing gender equality.
