Damyang-gun to Restrict Vehicle Access on 'Guksu Street' Starting Next Month

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) will transform the 'Guksu Street' into a car-free zone starting from the 1st of next month.

According to the county on the 30th, from the 1st of next month until October 31st every year, vehicles will be restricted on a 150m section of Guksu Street to create a safe walking environment and a pleasant street.

The Guksu Street lined along Gwanbangjerim was formed long ago as a street frequently visited by merchants and bamboo craft workers who came to the Jukmul Market.

The restriction hours are from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM on weekdays, and from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM on weekends and public holidays.

A county official said, "We have implemented traffic restrictions for the safety and pleasant environment of all those using Guksu Street," adding, "We will minimize inconvenience caused by the operation through publicity such as installing guide signs in the future."
