"Middle School Daughter Gang Raped" Victim's Mother Appeals for Severe Punishment

Blue House National Petition Surpasses 100,000 Signatures in One Day

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] A Blue House petition demanding severe punishment for perpetrators after a middle school daughter was gang-raped by male students in the same grade has gained over 100,000 signatures in just one day.

On the 29th, a petition titled "'I will kill you today' - Reporting minors who drugged and gang-raped my daughter" was posted on the Blue House petition board. As of 1 PM on the 30th, just one day after posting, the petition had received 101,059 signatures.

The petitioner, who identified herself as a mother of two living in Incheon, claimed, "Last year, my daughter, who was in the 2nd year of middle school, was subjected to a planned gang rape and assault by two male students in the same grade."

The petitioner explained, "Around 1 AM on December 23rd last year, the perpetrators forced my daughter and a male junior friend close to her to come out. My daughter thought that if she did not go out, that junior would be beaten by the seniors, so she called her friend and said, 'If anything happens, please report to 112,' then went out."

She continued, "The perpetrators gave my daughter alcohol at their apartment, saying 'I will kill you today.' They dragged my daughter, who had fainted, on the floor while giggling, and went to the top floor stairway of the 28th-floor apartment where there were no CCTV cameras."

She added, "During this process, the main perpetrator hit my daughter's face and spat on her. They decided the order by playing rock-paper-scissors and then raped her. They ate gukbap (soup with rice) and came back to assault and spit on my daughter again," she explained.

She appealed, "Due to this incident, my daughter was diagnosed with a three-week recovery period at the orthopedic clinic and a two-week recovery period at the gynecology clinic."

She also said, "My daughter cried for hours and even attempted self-harm with a sharp object. The perpetrators told friends that they had given my daughter alcohol and touched her, and rumors spread. Our family had to urgently sell our house and move, and my daughter transferred schools," she lamented.

Finally, the petitioner urged, "The perpetrators are sex offenders who committed the serious crime of special rape causing injury. They must be severely punished with at least 10 years or life imprisonment."

She raised her voice, saying, "Minors who commit serious crimes are receiving juvenile protection measures just because they are young. The juvenile protection system that protects malicious criminals instead of victims must be thoroughly reorganized."
