Min Hyung-bae Preliminary Candidate: "AI Industry Must Be a Business That Succeeds"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Min Hyung-bae, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for the 4·15 general election in Gwangsan-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, stated on the 29th that the ‘AI industry,’ a future core growth engine leading the 4th Industrial Revolution era, is a key project that must succeed along with the Gwangju-type job project, as the fate of the regional economy depends on it.

Min, the preliminary candidate, was appointed as the chairman of the Democratic Party’s Gwangju Artificial Intelligence (AI) Industry Development Special Committee on the 25th.

Min said, “When I worked as the Secretary for Local Autonomy Development at the Blue House, directly overseeing President Moon Jae-in’s regional pledges, I personally promoted key projects in Gwangju and Jeonnam such as the establishment of Korea Electric Power Corporation University, the Gwangju-type job project, and the creation of the Gwangju Artificial Intelligence (AI)-centered industrial convergence cluster,” adding, “I will support the smooth progress of the ‘Gwangju Artificial Intelligence (AI)-centered industrial convergence cluster’ by winning this general election.”

He continued, “Following the government’s selection of the project for exemption from preliminary feasibility study in January, and the decision on the 19th of last month to lift the development restriction (greenbelt) on the Advanced 3 District, which includes Buk-gu and Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju and Nam and Jinwon-myeon in Jangseong-gun, a green light has been turned on for the establishment of the AI-centered cluster,” and pledged, “Once in the National Assembly, I will utilize the network of the Blue House and the ruling party to secure related national budget and personally meet with ministers and officials to oversee the project.”
