President Moon Jae-in, Representative Hwang Kyo-ahn's '40 Trillion Won Bond' Proposal with Additional Message... "No Tug of War"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in stated regarding Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Future United Party's proposal to issue "40 trillion won bonds," "Our government will consider good proposals even if they come from the opposition party."
When Leader Hwang proposed issuing bonds to inject emergency relief funds worth 40 trillion won in response to the COVID-19 situation, President Moon conveyed a message with a positive implication.
Kang Min-seok, Blue House spokesperson, said on the 29th, "There have been various reports about the true meaning of President Moon's remarks on the 26th," and delivered an additional message. It clarified that President Moon's message was not about political push and pull. President Moon explained, "(The remarks made on the 26th) meant that given the severe economic situation, if it helps revive the economy, proposals from anyone would be considered."
President Moon said, "Our government will consider good proposals from anyone," and added, "This is not about push and pull. It is not something to engage in push and pull."
The Blue House explained that no specific response has yet come from Leader Hwang's side. A senior Blue House official stated, "There has been no concrete proposal yet. President Moon's position is that if a proposal comes, it will be reviewed."
