LG HelloVision, Major Overhaul of Localized Programs

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] LG HelloVision announced on the 30th that it has declared the second launch of its local channel (Channel 25) and has significantly revamped and strengthened its local programs. A total of eight pieces of content, including two local news and current affairs programs and six local original entertainment and educational programs, have been revamped and newly launched.

LG HelloVision's local channel presented four core development directions: ▲ Strengthening the role of disaster and election broadcasting ▲ Expanding viewer-led news and current affairs programs ▲ Securing the fundamental competitiveness of local entertainment and educational content ▲ Revitalizing the local economy.

In particular, in the news and current affairs sector, considering the necessity of local channels due to the spread of COVID-19 and the upcoming April 15 general election, the disaster and election broadcasting system will be solidified. The production volume of main news and current affairs programs will increase by more than 30% compared to before, aiming for "news made by viewers" and expanding opportunities for viewer participation in production.

Three new local entertainment and educational programs will be introduced. The goal is to reexamine the hidden values of the region and invigorate local culture and economy. Song Gu-young, CEO of LG HelloVision, said, "Following the launch of LG HelloVision, through the second launch of the local channel, we will strengthen the fundamental competitiveness of the content itself based on locality and diversity, becoming a channel more trusted by customers."
