[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Hollywood actor Mark Blum has reportedly died from complications related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). He was 70 years old.


On the 26th (local time), according to U.S. media outlets such as The New York Times and The Independent, Mark Blum passed away due to COVID-19 complications.


On the same day, Rebecca Damon of the Screen Actors Guild?American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) also announced Blum's death on the official Twitter account.


The SAG-AFTRA stated, "Our friend and former board member Mark Blum has passed away from complications related to COVID-19. We express our deepest sorrow," adding, "Mark Blum always spoke the truth and worked to promote our Screen Actors Guild?American Federation of Television and Radio Artists whenever he had the chance. He was a good person and a true actor. He will be missed."


The Broadway theater Playwright also paid tribute, saying, "We honor Mark Blum, a cherished friend and a perfect artist, with love and a heavy heart."


Madonna, who worked with Blum in the 1985 film Desperately Seeking Susan, mourned the late actor on her Instagram that day.


In her Instagram post, Madonna wrote, "I heard the news that Mark Blum, an outstanding human being, fellow actor, and friend, has fallen to the coronavirus," adding, "This reminds us that COVID-19 is no joke. We must be grateful, have hope, help each other, and follow quarantine guidelines."


Meanwhile, Mark Blum appeared in films such as How He Fell in Love, Desperately Seeking Susan, the popular NBC crime investigation drama Law & Order, and the movie Crocodile Dundee.
