[Companies Overcoming COVID-19] Meritz Securities Continues to Develop Support Measures for Underprivileged Groups... Monthly Volunteer Activities Practiced 'Meritz Chamsarang Volunteer Group' launched in 2007

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jihwan] Meritz Securities established the voluntary service group 'Meritz Chamsarang Volunteer Group' in 2007 and has been practicing various themed volunteer and donation activities once a month.

According to Meritz Securities on the 30th, the Chamsarang Volunteer Group continuously discovers practical ways to help marginalized neighbors and carries out various themed volunteer activities. Representative activities include birthday parties for the elderly, free meal support, sharing kimchi for love, and delivering briquettes for love.

The activities are carried out 100% voluntarily. When an internal email is sent to all employees, they participate in volunteer activities through applications.

The Chamsarang Volunteer Group visits the Salvation Army Duri Home, a facility for single mothers, once a quarter to provide baby care. This is to allow single mothers who are balancing economic activities and childcare to have free time. Duri Home is the first welfare facility for single mothers established in Korea in 1926.

Since 2008, they have also held the 'Beautiful Saturday' event every summer in cooperation with the Beautiful Store Foundation. Starting two months before the event, employees voluntarily donate items, and on the day of the event, employees become honorary salespeople and carry out sales activities. All sales proceeds are donated.

Using weekends, employees and their families participate together in volunteer activities such as mural painting at elementary schools located in Mapo-gu and Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. This allows employees to enjoy both volunteering and leisure with their families, receiving great responses from employees. Near Midong Elementary School in Seodaemun, Seoul, 35 participants including employees and their families completed a mural depicting animals playing in a green forest on a nearby wall.

In addition, through the Korean Red Cross Guro Volunteer Center, they engage in making bread for love and delivering the bread to marginalized groups. During holidays such as Lunar New Year and Chuseok, they share warm moments by serving holiday meals to elderly residents in nearby areas.

The Chamsarang Volunteer Group has been recognized for its active contribution activities, receiving the 2nd Korea Happiness Sharing Social Contribution Award (Low-income and Marginalized Group category) in 2014 and a commendation on the 19th Senior Citizens Day in 2015.
