On the morning of the 27th, at the joint meeting of the ‘COVID-19 National Crisis Overcoming Committee and Election Countermeasures Committee’ held at the National Assembly, Lee said, “Digital sex crimes are personality murders, and those who commit them or download (sexual exploitation materials) are unforgivable accomplices.”

He stated, “This sexual exploitation case is a horrific incident that shows how much our women have been living in fear and threat,” adding, “We will thoroughly find all accomplices so that such crimes can never be committed again and make them pay the price.”

The Democratic Party decided to establish a ‘Digital Sex Crime Eradication Task Force (TF)’ under the election committee on the same day to respond. Lee said, “The TF will work to maximize the sentences for criminals and enable punishment for sharing sexual exploitation materials and illegal filming.” He also emphasized, “The Democratic Party will prioritize passing the ‘Nth Room 3 Acts’ in the May National Assembly.” The Democratic Party, led by Representative Baek Hye-ryun, proposed the ‘Nth Room Recurrence Prevention 3 Acts.’ The bill aims to punish not only threats using illegal filming materials but also downloading acts, and to penalize information and communication service (platform) providers who neglect distribution.

Meanwhile, regarding the emergency disaster relief fund, Lee urged swift decisions. He said, “There are many opinions surrounding the payment of the emergency disaster relief fund, but to avoid confusion among the people, we must make quick and bold decisions by the 3rd Emergency Economic Meeting.” The ruling party and government are discussing specific plans, including eligibility, for ‘disaster income’ to support citizens’ livelihoods amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
