[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Guidelines will be established to address the issue of authorship participation in papers by minors, spouses, and other stakeholders.

The Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea announced that they will hold the first Research Ethics Forum of the year on the 27th, together with the University Research Ethics Council and the Federation of Academic Societies.

This forum, themed on sharing the latest domestic research ethics issues and exploring policy directions, is an opportunity for field researchers to propose alternatives and gather opinions on the major tasks of establishing university research ethics and improving research management, which the Ministry of Education announced in May last year.

At the forum, a revised draft of the "Authorship Guidelines," including criteria for authorship participation by stakeholders such as minor children and spouses, will be proposed. Additionally, to create a foundation for universities to establish research ethics independently rather than through government regulation, the inclusion of research ethics indicators in university institutional accreditation evaluations conducted by the Korea Council for University Education will also be discussed.

Based on the discussions at this Research Ethics Forum, the Ministry of Education plans to expedite various follow-up measures and establish a "Research Ethics Support Center" within the National Research Foundation of Korea by the end of this year.

The forum will be held online in real time, and the recorded video will be available on the websites of the National Research Foundation of Korea and the Research Ethics Information Center after the forum concludes.
