Posting of Promotional Materials for Cooperation in Patrol and Order Maintenance Focused on Official Sales Outlets
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 26th, the Yeosu Police Station in Jeonnam announced that it is strengthening patrols for intensive crackdowns on illegal activities targeting public mask sales locations in the city and actively conducting order maintenance publicity activities.
There are a total of 143 public mask sales locations in Yeosu City (117 pharmacies, 15 Hanaro Marts, and 11 post offices). The police have placed lists of public sales locations within their patrol areas in each patrol car to strengthen patrols and conduct base duty according to sales time slots.
In addition, the police plan to respond swiftly and prioritize 112 emergency calls received from public sales locations and strongly deal with any violations of order.
Earlier, on the 13th, a report was received that someone had purchased masks under another person's name at Pharmacy A in Yeoseo-dong. On the 17th, a report was received that Mr. A, who was trying to buy masks on behalf of his wife with a leg disability at Pharmacy B in Ungcheon-dong but was refused, shouted loudly and caused a disturbance. Since the end of February, a total of four reports related to public masks have been received in the Yeosu area.
A Yeosu Police Station official stated, "Regarding COVID-19, we plan to strictly deal with hoarding of masks and personal disinfectant products as well as violations of order within public mask sales locations such as pharmacies," and urged citizens who discover hoarding or witness violations of order within public sales locations to report to the nearest police station or call 112.
The police cooperated with village chiefs (dongjang or ijang) to promote purchasing methods to elderly and disabled residents in island areas or rural villages who are experiencing confusion with the ‘Public Mask Sales 5-Day Rotation System.’ They also included natural villages in foot patrols or flexible patrols (patrols conducted at locations requested by residents) to carry out publicity activities.
